K's Review

zelda 2 was a good time :)

fellow *ssK!* member seraph and our good friend riskbreaker john traveled out to cali with me for this fun filled weekend! after spending the day making cool stuff for our shirts (White Sword sword, Red Potion potion, and Bomb bomb from the original zelda game!) and making some candy (since i forgot all mine in vegas), we were finally set to head to the party... we called and got directions and they seemed simple enough... so we took the 5 from anaheim into LA where the party was, and after a few quick turns we were there! we parked, got a few sips of the tasty bevarages we brought in the trunk, and headed to the entrance of the party...

i got my deejay pass and we headed into the venue without any trouble... the venue itself was decent enough... a nice outdoor patio to chill, the main room, and an outdoor second area where i was to be playing at 2am... we hung out with dutchboy, phil, and a few of our other good friends and had a drink or two out on the patio... it was really nice outside with a hint of rain, but not enough to ruin anything... at one point i split from the group and wondered around the the party for a bit... i noticed not too many people dressed up all Zelda-like... if there was a costume contest i definitly think we should have won it! after a few rounds around the party i met back up with everyone and eventually joe (another good friend of ours) showed up with a friend of his so we all went inside to dance for a bit... we ended up out in the second area since that's where the uber-happy beats were flowing :) let me just note that i effing love kid orange! he threw down a ton of great tracks and i couldn't have really asked for more from him... he was also very friendly and introduced himself to me when i first came in to put my records behind the decks... good vibes, indeed.

right before 2am i took quick trip out to the patio... then it was time to throw down, so i headed behind the tables and talked with orange about what channels we were using on the mixer and such... good things to know before you try and mix... i was having trouble cuing my first record so i just let his spin out and then screamed something about if everyone was ready for some vegas style happycore... i got a good crowd response and began my set :) things went pretty smoothly and i was eventually rocking out to *be happy* and dancing behind the decks... i love be happy! everyone was eating it up and i was just happy that i wasn't on a stage and could actually move without record skips...

about 5 or 6 records into my set some kid came in and told me the cops were here so i nodded and turned down the music ever so slightly... cops don't usually worry me when it comes to parties being busted, especially since i'm not the one doing anything illegal... so i was about to throw down *have you ever been mellow* and that's when i a second raver came in and said the party was over... so i powered everything down and told everyone thanks for coming and to drive safe... right about then the ghetto bird flew over and i knew it was time to pack up...

a lot of people were diappointed at this point since it was only around 2:30am, but i was pretty happy with the party and most people agreed they had a great time... energy was awesome about everything and i applaud him for that :) most promoters get shady when their parties get broken up, but that was definitly not the case with energy... princess lollipop needed a ride back to anaheim, so after we bid our farewells we took her with us and headed back out...

thanks to everyone who came out and supported and see you back in cali @ PLUR 4: Operation RESPECT!

a few photos coming soon :)
